There are many different forms of social media, which at its hard, is media that allows for interactive as you say two-way communication between the sender and receiver. It often blurs the lines between sender and receiver. Other types of social media could include — blogs, micro-blogs, social news, social bookmarking, and many others. Social networking is a type of social media which, as you also say, is focused on meeting and connecting with people.
