Are you suggesting they get dressed IN the shower stall? Three of my kids have gone to college so far, and none of their 3 colleges has mixed bathrooms. One has only suites, so everyone has their own bathrooms in their suites. Personally, I would not feel comfortable if I were in the shower, and a man or men came into the bathroom. I would feel vulnerable. I prefer single sex bathrooms. People were fine with it then. And another one at Versailles. All Rights Reserved.

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system. The newest trend in dorm life is to make living spaces more friendly to those who wish to live and work with the opposite sex. While it's awesome in getting you used to real adulthood, it can be really intimidating for most freshmen to share a bathroom with someone of the other gender.
But have no fear, incoming freshmen. You can prepare for a co-ed bathroom by following these simple tips. One thing we highly recommend is to invest in an awesome robe or two. Think not too revealing, not too short, and one with sturdy ties. Try them on, get the right size, and make sure you feel comfortable. Secondly is the towel situation. You can always use them in a pinch to get from the shower to your dorm room if your robe gets wet or you forget your change of clothes.
Some girls and guys prefer to wash their face, prim, and prepare in the comfort of the bathroom. Others want to keep that part of their beauty secret, well, a secret! If you are okay with doing it out in the open, make sure you have a waterproof bathroom caddy. If you are the opposite, plan out some creative, compact storage options for your dorm room.
You may be afraid of what worst case scenario may happen. But the best thing you can do is not chicken out. From day one, go in with confidence.
The other case for getting your feet wet right away is that you can quickly make a bathroom schedule that makes you feel comfortable. Get ready for the day with your best friend or roommate, or make friends with the RA.

If I'm free to choose whether I'm "us" or "them" -- as is everyone else -- and I am empowered to decide for myself whether I'm more like "us" or more like "them" or just don't care to give it all that much thought , there's no problem is there?
There isn't even a dichotomy. The real beauty of "us" and "them" signs, of course, is that the cleaning staff has to clean half as many bathrooms. The use of more conventional and divisive signage is, in truth, a means for The Man to oppress the working class. While well-meaning progressive-thinkers are sucked into a debate about labels and regretting the limitations of their preferred language to accommodate all people, they're overlooking the oppression of the labor force that's going on.
Those other signs mean there's one extra bathroom that must be cleaned for no good reason. And that extra bathroom in a dorm is one less dorm room or TV lounge which reduces the size of the student body and is clearly the administration's subtle-yet-devious method of suppressing student outrage. There are sinks and toilets and showers It's all part of the grand deception. I know that the term "bathroom" worked just fine for years, but how many years since the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v.
There was when she first arrived in I assume it is still operating. But there are not any dorms that are entirely single-sex. It's a common misperception that Baldwin is all women; as WAvegetarian noted, that's not true. Yeah, they both are bathrooms but one is family and friends while the other are complete strangers. Not the same, unless you leave your house open for people to walk in and use it. Plus you have all the needs behind one locked door. If anything, I think that the showers should be seperate from coed bathrooms.
I stayed at Oberlin for two weeks over the summer, and I lived in Kahn Hall, a co-ed dorm with co-ed floors. There is also one private single bathroom on each floor. Hope that helps. Obviously there are traumatic events that could make students uncomfortable using bathrooms with people of a different gender, but for the most part I think most students would think having gender neutral bathrooms just helps the campus be a more welcoming and safe place.
