But Ichigo due to his deep desire to save Rukia from the death penalty was able to achieve Bankai in less than 3 days. The hollow form is one of the evilest and uncontrollable forms Ichigo could achieve. Vasto Lorde Ichigo is the only form that completely transforms his whole appearance, it appears to be the completion of the hollow-fication. The only time this form appears is during the fight with Segunda Etapa, who knocks him out. This form proves to be lethal for his opponents, as Ichigo crushes them both effortlessly and finishes Ulquiorra off with his immense Cero.

You could call this Jackel and Hyde Form. Living on the edge of insanity and sanity. Some people it just takes one bad day then they turn over to madness. However, with hollowfication Ichigo, it comes with increased power and speed.
If it were not for Ichigo's hollow mask, he would have died a couple of arcs ago. In his 1st Hollowfication, Ichigo could only stay in this power mode for no more than 10 seconds, or he transformed into full hollow permanently. With his fight with Grimmjow was a second brawl, it could be hours if two supernatural beings fight in the hypersonic speed of some hidden dimension in the spirit were time extends.

Ichigo is willing to do anything to save his friends and family. The Final Getsuga Tensho or Ichigo's Mugetsu will use all of his Reiatsu and soul reaper power and become a mere human.
Upon the encounter with Aizen, he uses Mugetsu to weaken Aizen so that Urahara can put him to a binding seal. Even using up all his soul reaper powers, Ichigo should live a normal life as a human.

Nevertheless, this fight is won only because of the Hollow. Ichigo, knocked unconscious by Ulquiorra's Segunda Etapa, is woken up by Orihime's plaintive cries. He responds by incarnating himself into a second stage of development: Vasto Lorde Ichigo, the only form in which he is completely unrecognizable.
Before Ulquiorra comprehends the situation, Ichigo is already at his throat, crushing his opponent's Lanza del Relampago with his bare hands. After ravaging Ulquiorra's body, he tops it off with a ridiculously overpowered Cero that shatters Las Noches' roof. This version of Ichigo has never appeared since. After three months of Jinzen inside the Dangai, Ichigo achieves a perfect union with Zangetsu, learning the only method that could utterly destroy Aizen in his Hogyoku form.
His appearance has only slightly changed when he emerges, sporting longer hair and a chain wrapped around his arm.
