Before the game began the eighteen castaways were split into two tribes of nine, divided by gender. In a major twist, the two tribes were to live on the same beach while competing against each other.
On Day One during the trek to camp, two alliances were made. Camp life started off strong for the men with fire being started on the first day, while the women struggled. She made a strategic move by giving the Idol to Colton who was feeling on the outs of his tribe. During the first Immunity Challenge Kourtney broke her wrist, causing her to be pulled from the game. At the Day Three Tribal Council, Salani were told they did not have to vote another member out due to Kourtney being evacuated from the game.
Manono went on to win the next Reward and Immunity Challenge sending Salani back to Tribal Council where Nina was voted out of the tribe. Salani would go on to win the next Reward and Immunity Challenge. Back at the Manono camp, Colton was becoming more and more frustrated with Bill and made the proposition of giving Immunity up to Salani.
There was some debate but the tribe eventually agreed and Immunity was given to Salani. It was made out to look like Leif was the next go, however, the plan was to blindside Bill who was unanimously voted out on Day Eleven. Salani went on to once again win Immunity and at the Day Fifteen Tribal Council, Monica was blindsided and voted out of the game. Salani went on to win yet another Reward Challenge while at the Manono camp, Colton became increasingly sick.
The Survivor medical team arrived at Manono and told Colton that he had signs of appendicitis and he would have to be evacuated from the game. Colton was given the option of giving up his Hidden Immunity Idol, to a current Manono member. He decided not to and kept it as a souvenir. That night the two tribes arrived at Tribal Council and instead of someone being voted out they were told that they had merged into one tribe. The new tribe would return to live at the original beach.
